Yay! Another water park today…… typhoon lagoon this time round. Stacey assures me these are “rest” days, they couldn’t be further from rest days. We are starting to get up later and we had to get two busses to get to the park so we didn’t get there until after it opened. The place was rammed. We didn’t have breakfast at the resort as we decided to have coffee and donuts once we found a seat. This may take some time. We eventually found somewhere to base ourselves, no sun loungers though but we had beach seats which was good enough. I went off to get coffee and donuts whilst the others made themselves comfortable, of course the hut selling these was the other side of the park, I had to carry everything back on my own through a busy park with water flying all over the place. Rest day.
The kids had found the pool that fires a huge wave every so often and everyone rides it or they get dragged under and end up hitting in to loads of other people. It was mostly a case of the latter as far as I could make out. We ate our donuts and drank our drinks and applied sun cream to everyone. Stacey took the big kids in to the wave pool whilst I was tasked with taking Florence to the gift shop to buy her a new beach towel, we battled our way through the hoards of people and paid 26 dollars for a towel. Jacob and Leila went off on their own for a while and came back telling us about this amazing slide they went on where you had to cross your arms and could see everything from the top.
We all decided to go in the tidal wave pool. Flo stayed back in the shallow bit with me whilst the other three were further forward getting more wave for their money. Jacob and Leila insisted I go in to the fray with them so Stacey and I swapped over for a bit. We got to about just over half way which was more than enough for me. It wasn’t actually as scary as I thought it would be and we filmed some action shots of the huge waves. On one occasion when a particularly large wave was coming towards us Jacob and I surfaced to see Leila-Rae literally surfing on some random guys back. He helped her up and immediately made his way out of the pool!! Jacob, Leila and I all laughed hysterically about it for a few minutes before we had to prepare ourselves for the next wave.
Stacey suggested we all go on the lazy river for a bit which everyone agreed was a good idea. We found the entrance nearest to where we had based ourselves and floated al the way round. It was worlds apart from the lazy river at Blizzard Beach, the concept was the same but there were at least 10 times the amount of people using it. Rest day!! We exited the lazy river and went and got some lunch which consisted of fast food, fish fingers, shrimp, nuggets and wraps were the full extent of the menu. We headed back to base and Stacey and the eldest two went off and left me and Bizzle to relax and play in the sand, much more my scene! We had great fun making camps out of chairs and general messing about. The other three came back and it was decided we get ready to leave as we had a reservation at Planet Hollywood in Disney Springs to get to. We went to our relevant changing rooms to shower and get changed, Jacob decided against showering as he’d been in the pool! We met the girls outside and I heard Jacob telling Leila that he saw a “blue moon” in the changing rooms, Leila laughed her head off and we soon realised he was talking about the bare buttocks of various men which they both found completely hilarious!
We arrived by bus at Disney Springs and had a look in the coca cola shop before making our way to Planet Hollywood, we posed for photos and were shown to our table. Once seated we realised that our table was actually a huge TV screen which the kids thought was awesome. It was made even more awesome when we realised we were sat under Forrest Gump’s running gear from the movie. Jacob again joked that he was eating his dinner under Forrest’s buttocks! Our waitress was a bit pushy and we bought extra milkshakes for the kids, we were then shown our photos we posed for and told that they were 30 dollars if we wanted them, we decided against it. We got the feeling they were trying to fleece us as much as possible and weren’t keen. The waitress (Arianne) said we were welcome to look around at the various props which were laid out over the 3 floors and Jacob took advantage and did so. He saw a tuxedo worn by James Bond, one of Indiana Jones’ outfits and Apollo Creed’s ring gear. We ate our meal which was very average and paid the bill, the most expensive meal to date ironically for the worst food and service to date, saying that it was still only 86 dollars as we could use our meal plan. On the way out Jacob asked me to go and look at the outfits with him so we did, we were on the 2nd floor (third for Americans) and were told that we couldn’t be up there as they had a large party coming in. I told the chap that we were just having a look round at the outfits, he said we weren’t able to as there were too many people on their way. The whole floor at this point was empty. I informed the waiter politely that my son wanted to show me what he had already seen and that Arriane our waitress had told us prior to our meal this was ok. He insisted we couldn’t. We looked at what we wanted to in the timeframe we wanted to and then decided to leave. On trying to leave all five of us were held and told that we couldn’t because there was a crowd coming in, now Stacey was getting vexed which meant it was getting serious! We left and regretted leaving a tip. We walked round Disney Springs for a bit and realised that Flo had left her light up cup they give you the kids drinks in, usually we would have forgotten about it but we were adamant we were having it after the money they’d charged us! I went back alone to get the cup and they called the manager over who said he’d get us a new one, he came back over and asked who our waitress was, what time our booking was and what time. I have him all this information and he went off again and came back with our exact cup slightly rinsed out!
We walked round Disney Springs for a bit and before heading for the dock to get our boat where we were allowed aboard by captain Harrison who just so happened to be a pirate captain! As we set sail he made all his safety announcements as a pirate, in addition to this every other boat that passed we had to shout AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH in our best pirate accents as loud as we could. Stacey was not keen at all and thought that he should be more focused on his job of driving the boat safely in the dark and getting us home safely rather than messing about being a pirate…. this only made me shout AAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHH even louder! At one point he started a pirate song and Jacob who was sat with Leila further down the boat sang a song back from Spongebob Squarepants which Captain Harrison responded with in a pirate accent “that’s not Disney”! The whole boat cracked up and the lady sat opposite Jacob told him he got burnt! Best boat trip ever!!!! Despite Stacey’s anxiety Captain Harrison got us safely back to land and told us we were lucky this time and bid us farewell. We grabbed a refill of our free drinks and went back to our room and fell asleep with the TV on.
