We seem to have adapted to vacation mode fully now and we all woke up late at around 9am (including Flozza) so we grabbed takeaway croissants and got the bus to Epcot for a lazy day. There are various “worlds” at Epcot each depicting a different country spaced out around the lake. We didn’t have any rides booked but we hadn’t yet used our free fast passes that we acquired from the Disney vacation club tour so we let the kids decide what they wanted to go on if they wanted to at all. We passed through Canada and then the United Kingdom was next so we had a look around. The staff were all from England and couldn’t chat to us for Oh my god enough, guess a familiar accent is all it takes although the two chatters were from Leeds and Birmingham, it reminded me how much the Birmingham accent grates on me. We checked out the menu at the pub which was called the Rose & Crown and decided it wasn’t for us. The next country was USA so we wandered in to the county hall type building they had and there was going to be some singers on within 5 minutes so we figured we’d wait for them to come on as we were there. I got chatting to an old war veteran sat next to me on the bench, he complained how he’d managed to defend his country and his wife won’t let him make his own coffee anymore! I can’t remember where he was from but he said he’d always wanted to visit Scotland, I thought this odd and asked why, his surname was McGregor and he felt he should visit. I told him everyone’s called McGregor up there! His high school had a reunion every couple of years and he had just attended his 66th anniversary, he told me that he thought it was a wonderful thing we were doing by bringing children away to experience other cultures as most of the people from his school had never left the county he was from let alone the state or the country….. simple farming folk he called them. We watched the show together and I shook Mr McGregors hand and we left to find lunch.
Italy was the next country to visit which was perfect as we all love Italian food. The restaurant was busy and we hadn’t booked but we were seated immediately, everyone in the restaurant was from Italy and spoke everything first in Italian. The decor was also all perfectly Italian. Stacey and I had the house special which was pasta, chicken and mushrooms but more importantly was amazing. Jacob had pizza and the girls had pasta in tomato sauce. We all had gelato afterwards which was top notch. We settled up and left to wander round Marrakesh, China and various other countries. Leila chose to go on Soarin’ again as this was her favourite ride to date so I went on it with her whilst the other three sat outside in the sunshine. Jacob’s choice was Test Track (the design your car super quick one), we all liked this ride so I went on with the big kids first and got the parent swap ticket so that Stacey could go on again with them afterwards. We thought we knew where the photos were taken on this and thought we were prepared for it with silly faces…… turns out we had no idea when the photo was!
It was still relatively early on so after much deliberation and an argument or two it was decided we would go to Magic Kingdom and see what was occurring there as it was open until 1am.
We went on the Barnstormer as Flo could go on it and she decided she wanted to sit next to me for once. Of all the rides she could have chosen…. the ride seemed very fast to allow a 2 year old on and I gripped her extremely tightly the whole way round! We had a look around the local attractions and Florence was insistent that she was going to buy the Dumbo hat she had found in the big top shop! Florence obviously bought the hat and wore it for the rest of the night. We finished off the night with a go on the Winnie the Pooh ride, again Florence chose to sit with me and of course Leila wanted to get in on the action so we all rode together whilst Jacob and Stacey went together around Hundred Acre Wood. The ride was what you’d expect from a Winnie the Pooh ride but everyone enjoyed it.
We left the Magic Kingdom and got the bus back to our hotel where the big kids and I grabbed a large pizza to take back to our room with whilst Stacey and Flo went back to get ready. We ate our pizza and drank our drinks in our beds and all fell asleep completely stuffed and worn out
