Eventful night, turns out Jacob was not just tired and was actually poorly, he got up twice to be sick in the night and was understandably shattered the next morning. Despite this we all got up early and got ready, we got the shuttle bus to Hollywood Studios and were there for the rope drop so we made a dash for the Movie Ride and were the first people on it. Leila hated the movie ride because she thought it was too scary, it wasn’t at all but there was a segment that had the Alien from the film Alien in it so her mind was made up. We got off of there and just started wandering and happened upon Star Tours which is a Star Wars 3D simulator ride, Jacob was too ill to go on so it was just myself and Leila that braved it, it started with C3PO telling us we weren’t cleared for take off and then Darth Vader swooped in saying that he needed to board the ship as we were harbouring a rebel spy on board, everyone looked at the big screen and all of a sudden Leila’s photo came up as the wanted spy….. she got very worried as Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers started shooting at her! After all that excitement we decided to go for something a bit more subdued and went and met Mickey and Minnie for photos and autographs. Flo hasn’t been keen on any of the characters so far but she let herself go a bit and gave Minnie a big long hug, that had all worn off by the time we got to Mickey and she was back to her normal self of trying not to go near him!
Our next booked ride was Toy Story Mania which is a ride where you have to shoot at various targets worth varying points, Jacob went with Stacey and Flo and I went on with Leila, it goes without saying which team won! We had some time to kill after Toy Story Mania before our lunch so we had a mooch around, Jacob and I queued up to go and have our photo with Kylo Ren whilst the girls traded pins with cast members and Leila also managed to spend some more of her money with the purchase of a charm bracelet and a charm to go on it. Next up was lunch, Stacey had booked us in to the Sci Fi Dine in Theater which was a 1950’s drive in movie themed restaurant, we all got to sit in a car and have our lunch, Jacob and Leila were up front, Stacey and Flo were in the middle whilst I was flying solo in the back, definitely my most peaceful meal to date on the holiday. The restaurant was brilliant with a constant stream of 1950’s themed movies and adverts on the big screen, the food was the best food we have had so far, Jacob and Leila both had pasta whist Stacey had some kind of posh ham and cheese toastie and I had the ribs, we all had a milkshake apart from Jacob who was still under the weather but managed to force a lemonade down. Our waiter was called Pedro and he was brilliant, he got the biggest tip to date and rightly so, he did ask us to go to Guest Relations and let them know how good he was which we didn’t, I felt the tip was more than enough recognition.
We had a date with Indiana Jones and his stunt spectacular next, we queued up and listened to a very very tall man answer questions from some prying woman who seemingly wanted to know his entire life story, managed to learn that he was 1 of 5 brothers from California and they were all tall, he took up track and field despite everyone trying to push him in to basketball, he was unsurprisingly good at hurdles but has since given it all up. Indiana Jones was amazing, the stunts were indeed spectacular and the explosions hot, they were asking for audience members to help out as extras and they chose the super tall guy as one, I felt like I knew him personally at this point so whooped a little bit louder than I did for everyone else who got called on stage. The finale of the stunt spectacular was a fight scene with loads of explosions, Jacobs face was an absolute picture when all of the gunshots and explosions went off and he physically jumped back in his seat in fear, my only regret is that we didn’t capture it on camera!
Everyone was feeling a tad hot at this point so we found a cafe and got a drink, well….. Stacey and I got a slushie whilst Leila and Flo held out for an ice cream as they didn’t sell them in our chosen establishment. The slushie was a bit much but was refreshing enough and killed some time whilst we walked to the Muppet Vision 3D show. En route Flo found an ice lolly type thing but Leila still refused to budge, she was adamant she was getting a proper ice cream in a cone, Jacob was still off his food so had nothing. Muppet Vision 3D was average with the highlight being the kids all trying to grab things when they “popped” out of the screen, in hindsight we shouldn’t have wasted a Fast Pass on it. We made our way to the exit and Leila was rewarded for her patience as she found a stand selling ice cream cones, she was pleased as punch and happily ate it all the way to the bust stop. We need to go back to Hollywood Studios for the Aerosmith roller coaster and the Tower of Terror to complete the set!
Two shuttle busses later and we were in Disney Springs as we had a reservation at The Boat House for a slap up meal on the dock. We went to World of Disney to claim our $100 gift voucher that was part of our package but I forgot to bring any photo ID as it was all locked away in the room safe. I explained this to the helpful chap on the desk and he said there was a way round it, he called Jacob over and asked him for our home address in the UK including postcode. Jacob aced the test and we had our voucher, Flo instantly helped to spend some of it by purchasing a stuffed Minnie Mouse toy that she was never going to let go of. We rushed off to our dinner reservation and we were not disappointed, the Boat House was beautiful, I asked for a seat by the window which we got, we could see the cars that drove in to the lake from there which Florence loved. Jacob was getting his appetite back now so ordered the full rack of ribs, Stacey and I shared a filet mignon with crab meat and asparagus whilst the girls had macaroni cheese. the filet mignon was amazing and I wished I had a whole one to myself after the first mouthful. Stacey and I went off our Disney dining plan and treated ourselves to a couple of beers and a wine, Jacob couldn’t finish all his ribs so our waiter (Ryan) boxed up the rest for him to take home, we ordered puddings but were all so stuffed that we couldn’t finish them. Ryan asked us where we from and when we said England he asked the obvious question about Manchester football teams, we said that Stacey was from Manchester but supported Manchester City and not Manchester United so he probably hasn’t ever heard of them, on the contrary….. Manchester City were his team, not only that but Eden Hazard was his favourite player!!!!!! I didn’t want to correct him and just smiled and nodded whilst trying to make out to Jacob not to say anything.
With everyones bellies full of good food we headed back to the World of Disney store, Leila spent all but $4 of the remaining gift card balance on a new top, another charm for her bracelet and a Mickey Mouse stuffed toy. Jacob spent some of his money on a photo frame which he plans to put up in his room when he gets back. We strolled to the dock to catch the boat back to our resort as everyone was extremely tired, Flo didn’t make it back and crashed out in the buggy whilst on the boat so had to be carried to bed. We have a busy day tomorrow at Animal Kingdom so hopefully no one will be up in the night vomiting as we all need our rest.
