Everyone seems to be getting their body clocks sorted and as we all woke up at a more reasonable time. We got ready and jumped on the shuttle bus for Animal Kingdom and we were there for the rope drop. They opened the park with a bird show with a load of parrots, once the parrots had finished everyone was allowed in.
We headed straight for the Kali River Rapids, Stacey stayed with Flozza whilst Jacob, Leila and I went on the ride, we collected our parent swap voucher so that Stacey could go on afterwards with the two big kids again. Whilst on the ride Flo bought herself some Minnie Mouse flip flops with some of her spending money. As predicted we got soaked but it was worth it, Jacob and Leila went on again with Stacey and got even more soaked.
We had slot booked on Expedition Everest but the ride was down for maintenance so we decided to wait and use our fast pass later on. We instead went on Dinosaur, Stacey went on first with the kids this time and I stayed with Flo. Leila came off the ride extremely unhappy and said she was never going on it again, she looked petrified! It was decided that we wouldn’t make Leila go through that again and Jacob and I would go on it later on as we had a booking for brunch at Donald’s safari dining with yet more characters. We had all you can eat breakfast where if you so desired you could have curry…. none of us did. We had photos and autographs with Safari Donald, Goofy and Mickey and Minnie and then finished up and decided to see if Expedition Everest was back up and running, on the way there a plane was writing letters in the sky and oddly it spelt out “LOVE U JF”, no expense spared when it comes to showing Jacob our affection! We were in luck, it was fully operational so I took the two big kids on. They decided to sit together and leave me on my own, we were given seats right at the back which according to the woman were the best (or worst) seats depending on what you wanted. The lady who I was sat next to didn’t stop chewing my ear off whilst waiting and when the ride started, she was obsessed with asking me questions about the royal family and whether I thought that Charles would be the king or whether he should let William have it, I answered her questions as best I could but I’m almost certain at least 50% of what I told her wasn’t true. In the end I said I needed to watch the kids and she should look on Wikipedia for the answers she so desperately seeks and not ask some random guy who was unfortunate enough to be sat next to her on a roller coaster.
Expedition Everest was the scariest ride so far, Leila said it was the best thing she’d done so far, Jacob said he wasn’t going on it again! I swapped with Stacey and last minute Jacob decided he would go on again. Flo announced that she needed a poo as soon as we were alone so we went and found a restroom for her to defile. Stacey came off looking ill and said that it was horrific and she’d not be going on anymore!
The queue for the dinosaur ride was only 5 minutes with our fast pass so Jacob and I went on that whilst the girls explored Dinoland USA. The ride was not scary but I’m pretty sure Jacob didn’t look up once from hiding his head in his hands. We found the girls and grabbed ourselves a cold drink in a cafe as the temperature was heating up. We had the safari booked in just before our Lion King show so we walked to the start and used our fast pass. The safari was brilliant, by far the best thing we’ve done so far, we got to see white rhinos, giraffes, a lion, black rhino, crocodiles and an elephant as well as numerous other creatures. Truly stunning. At one point the driver said that the usual road was closed and we had to take an alternate route over an old bridge that he hoped was safe enough. As we were going over it shook and moved left to right, Jacobs face was hilarious the whole time and at one point shouted “excuse me” to the driver, I’m assuming this was to get his attention to let him know that the bridge wasn’t safe. Thankfully the bridge held out and we were on our way again.
The safari finished almost next to where the Lion King show was, it was like Stacey had researched it all and made plans for everything. The show was great, loads of acrobatics and amazing singers doing the hits from the Lion King film, the tall guy from Indiana Jones was there too….. think he might be following us.Flo fell asleep on me in there so I had to carry her to the buggy after which was hard work in 93 degree heat but as I’m such a hero I managed it without too much complaining. We’d done everything we wanted to do at Animal Kingdom and it was getting late so we got the shuttle back to our hotel. Stacey was kind enough to take the kids in the pool whilst I stayed in and rested in peace. The peacefulness was forgotten quickly when the children came storming in and started being loud and running around like lunatics. Dinner was had at the hotel and was burgers, nuggets and pizzas. After eating we all went to the arcade at the hotel and spent far too much money playing average video games, kids enjoyed themselves though. As seems to be the norm now everyone was suitable shattered and crashed out almost immediately after their heads hit the pillow. Stacey assures me tomorrow is a “rest day” and it will be spent at Blizzard Beach which is one of the water parks here. I couldn’t think of anything further from resting than a water park
