We didn’t wake up until normal times again today so we got our swim gear together and made our way to the shuttle bus to go to Blizzard Beach. The weather wasn’t great but the cloudy skies and breeze for me were a welcome change, Stacey on the other hand wasn’t keen. The forecast had thunder storms but despite this we were still apparently going to the water park. We arrived just as it was opening and the cast members were making a song and dance of the whole thing, I mean literally….. they were all lined up doing a dance routine to Cotton Eye Joe, worst opening we’ve seen so far.
We found somewhere to base ourselves which wasn’t hard as we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves probably due to the weather forecast. I went off to find a locker for our bags whilst the others went in to the big pool. 15 dollars to store two bags for a day. Fifteen dollars, I paid the lady but gave her a death stare whilst doing it so she knew I was displeased with how much it had cost, she still insisted I have a nice day.
I stayed in the shallow pool with Leila and Bizzle whilst Stacey and Jacob sought out some thrills. They came back 20 minutes later telling me how I have to go on these two rides, begrudgingly I went off with Jacob and Leila to go on these rides I had to go on. The first was a 3 lane slide where you were given a mat that you held in front of you and went when the green light said go. Despite not being as quick out the gates as Jacob and Leila I recorded a comfortable win! The second was an 8 lane slide that used the same mats so we were racing against other folk, fear not though faithful reader for I was victorious again! After all that excitement we hopped on the lazy river which was huge and took over twenty minutes to get part way round it, this was definitely more my cup of tea. We eventually got bored of the lazy river so went to find Stacey and Florence, they were sat on their sun loungers having a decaf coffee and a donut. The big kids instantly wanted a donut so they ran off to get one whilst I grabbed myself some nachos and cheese and a coffee.
We decided to move location to the little kids area so that Florence could play and we could sit instead of standing around, she and the other two had a great time running about and it gave Stacey and I some time to plan the next couple of days and argue about what time to leave the water park, I wanted to leave at 13:30 whilst Stacey was suggesting 15:00, we had a dinner reservation in Disney Springs for 16:30 and I didn’t want to miss it. We put the bickering to one side for a bit and decided to all go on the lazy river together and go all the way round, for some reason Stacey was struggling to get in to her rubber ring to float round the lazy river, so much so that she attempted it a few times and on one attempt managed to jump up on the ring and go right the way over backwards and and ended up underneath the ring under water, I could not stop laughing and thankfully Stacey also found it funny. The lazy river was great fun and Flo loved it as much as the other two, the only bit she wasn’t keen on was the ice cave where they pour freezing water all over you as you float by, having been through once already I was prepared and took an extra rubber ring in for protection. We hopped off where we got on and grabbed some snacks for lunch and sat on sun loungers eating and drinking for a bit. Stacey took Jacob and Leila off for some more of the dangerous life threatening rides again whilst Flo and I splashed around in the toddlers pool being all safe and not drowning. They did various slides and zip lines and came back with tales of how amazing it all was.
We got our things together and headed off to get changed (the time was around 14:45) before making our way to the shuttle bus to get to Disney Springs for our dinner at T Rex restaurant. We got there with plenty of time so had a look around a few shops, Leila bought a couple of charms for her bracelet and Jacob nearly bought several things before deciding not to each time.
Dinner was brilliant! The restaurant was dinosaur themed in case you hadn’t guessed by the name, they put us in the underwater section so we were sat next to a fish tank with salt water fish in on one side and a giant octopus on the other, above us were jelly fish. Every so often the whole restaurant started to get really loud and the dinosaurs all made noises and fire exploded from volcanoes around the restaurant, not one of the children seemed phased by this in the slightest which surprised us both. Jacob shared lasagne with Flo, Leila ordered pasta in tomato sauce but they bought macaroni cheese over, she liked it anyway so we didn’t swap it. Stacey had salmon and I had some prawn skewers with a bit of steak. The meal was good and the service excellent. The puddings came out and the were huge, absolutely massive, so much so in fact that between the five of us we still couldn’t finish them. One was a giant chocolate cake with ice cream and cream and the other was a bucket of mini cream filled donuts with a pot of caramel sauce and a pot of chocolate sauce to dip them in. We settled up and mooched around some more shops, I bought myself a cool Star Wars print from a boutique kind of place and we headed for our boat back to the hotel from the dock. On the way the kids stopped at a compass that fired various amounts of water at different intervals and got absolutely soaked, we had to change Flo as she was wet through! They loved it and played really nicely with each other. We hopped on our boat and got back to Port Orleans, stopped by the food court to top up our refillable mugs, I had a coffee, Flo a milk and Jacob and Leila had hot chocolate, Stacey missed out again as Flo has pretty much commandeered her cup as her own so she settled for a peppermint tea when we got back to the room. We put the TV on for the first time and everyone fell asleep to Modern Family reruns. We have our first day off of Disney property tomorrow as we’re visiting Universal Studios….. exciting stuff.
